Georgia Fualaau was the result of her parents’ illegal relationship which attracted national attention. She was born while her mother was serving her second stint in jail. Her parents got involved in an illegal affair (considered her father, Fualaau was a minor as at then) leading to the birth of Georgia and her sister Audrey. Georgia Fualaau is the youngest daughter of former Seattle elementary school teacher Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau. She was born on October 16, 1998. Georgia has a sister by name, Audrey Lokelani Fualaau.
Georgia also has four half-siblings, Mary Claire Letourneau, Jacqueline Letourneau, Steve Letourneau Jr., and Nicholas Letourneau from her mothers’ first marriage to Steve Letourneau.
Did Georgia Fualaau Mother Actually Go to Jail?
Yes, she did. Her mother served her time in prison after pleading guilty in 1997 to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child, Fualaau who was then 12-year-old sixth-grade student. The state sought a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence, but she reached a plea agreement calling for six months in jail, with three months suspended, and no contact with Fualaau for life among other terms.
After serving her three months in jail, Letourneau was released and despite their no-contact order, the two were caught by police in a car. After the incident, the judge revoked the plea agreement, and her prison sentence was reinstated. She had to serve the maximum allowed by law of seven-and-a-half years.
Upon her release, Fualaau requested the court for the cancellation of their no-contact order. To their favour, the order was revoked and the two eventually got married.
Conclusion
Georgia has an older sister Audrey Lokelani Fualaau. Audrey was born while their mother awaited sentencing after pleading guilty to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child. She was also left in the care of her grandmother. Despite knowing their parents’ notorious affair that landed Letourneau behind bars, Georgia and Audrey have remained supportive of their parents. Even after their parents’ divorce in August 2019, the girls have remained “as impartial as possible.” Georgia and Audrey lost their mother on July 6, 2020, after succumbing to colon cancer near Seattle, Washington, U.S. Her long-time friend, and attorney said that Kay had been in hospice care for the past month, and Vili had been by her side … helping take care of her.
Previously, their father, Fualaau had shared Letourneau’s stage 4 cancer diagnosis on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself wearing a medical mask with the caption, “Praying for a miracle.”
