Georgia Fualaau was the result of her parents’ illegal relationship which attracted national attention. She was born while her mother was serving her second stint in jail. Her parents got involved in an illegal affair (considered her father, Fualaau was a minor as at then) leading to the birth of Georgia and her sister Audrey. Yes, she did. Her mother served her time in prison after pleading guilty in 1997 to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child, Fualaau who was then 12-year-old sixth-grade student. The state sought a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence, but she reached a plea agreement calling for six months in jail, with three months suspended, and no contact with Fualaau for life among other terms.
After serving her three months in jail, Letourneau was released and despite their no-contact order, the two were caught by police in a car. After the incident, the judge revoked the plea agreement, and her prison sentence was reinstated. She had to serve the maximum allowed by law of seven-and-a-half years.
Upon her release, Fualaau requested the court for the cancellation of their no-contact order. To their favour, the order was revoked and the two eventually got married.
