The American star Kim Kardashian is at the center of a new case. Last May, she appeared majestically in the iconic dress of Marilyn Monroe at the MET evening.
Several weeks after the prestigious event, the ex of Kanye West is the target of strong criticism. Indeed, last Monday, June 13, the managers of a private collection of Maryline Monroe have publicly accused him of having damaged the dress.
According to pictures shared on the social accounts of the company, we notice damage on the collection piece. A montage showing a before and after of the dress reveals the tears on the piece at the back closure. Some crystals are missing and others are hanging on by a thread.
This outfit was custom made for Maryline Monroe. The Hollywood legend had worn it for the birthday of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, in 1962 at Madison Square Garden. This dress was purchased at auction by Ripley’s Museum for the record sum of $4.8 million in 2016. The precious piece had not been worn since its memorable release in 1962.
Before parading in this dress Kim made a deal with the museum. The latter had also followed a diet and would have lost 7kg before being able to put on the outfit. According to some Internet users, Kim despite its weight loss does not have the same measurements as the goddess Maryline so the damage was inevitable.
Collector Scott Fortner said: “Ripley’s had an obligation to protect and preserve this historic piece and they did not. It is now irreparably damaged and would likely have been damaged by anyone who wore it. However, Ripley’s has yet to respond.
