Burna Boy, A Grammy Award winner, has released a new song titled “20 10 20” in response to the police brutality inflicted by Nigeria’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
“20th of October 2020 / You carry army go kill many youth for Lekki,” the African musician sings on “20 10 20,” referring to the protestors killed on that date at Lagos’ Lekki Toll Gate.
Burna Boy’s song expresses his displeasure and anguish at such an incident, and he criticized it by sending a message to the Nigerian President, Lagos State Governor, a political godfather in Lagos State, politicians, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the Nigerian Government in general.
20th of October 2020 You carry army go kill many youth for Lekki Na so WATER OOO WATER runaway my eyes Nothing you go talk wey go justify the case of their murder The chief of staff, the commander and the army wey carry order
Mr President, Mr Governor Godfather, gbo gbo IJOBA, All your atrocity, All of your corner corner. Make all the DEADBODY disturb you for your dream.
The song ended with what appear to be field recordings of rioting, including gunshots.
